SPEAK UP TO SAVE INTERNET RADIO!
Mountain Echoes Radio pays a monthly fee for the use of the music we play. The new royalty structure that was due to go into effect last year would have caused us and most other Internet radio stations to go silent. The record industry's proposed increases (300% to 1,200%) would cause us to pay more for just the music royalties than all the revenues we earn in a year. We are already paying a higher rate than terrestrial radio and satellite radio. Artists must be paid fairly, but if the Internet radio industry goes silent, they'll get nothing. The Internet Radio Equality Act (H.R. 2060 and S. 1353) will create a more equitable royalty rate structure.
If you'd like to continue to enjoy Internet radio, please contact your congresspeople.
